Mens Needs - The Cribs Evaluation

Mens Needs - The Cribs Evaluation

1. In what ways does your media product use develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our media product used forms and conventions of real media products as we recreated Men's Needs by The Cribs. Within our group (me, Alfie, George, Will and Cam) we all watched the music video and were given certain time slots where we had to analyse what was happening and drew it on our storyboard. After we had completed the storyboard for the whole song we started rehearsing it in the media room with props and costumes like in the music video. After a few attempts, we started to record it. Our media product uses forms and conventions of real media products as we used as close to the real music video's props, costumes, mise en scene and characters. We went to the extent of dressing George as the women out of the video who walks around the band showing off and tries to distract the singers.

2. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

We received good feedback from our recreation video as we had put in a lot of effort with the camera shots, costumes, props and characters. As well as this, we used a music video which no one else in our class had used which made our video different and unique. In addition, the music video we had chosen was a challenge for us as a group and had to consider possible problems which could have happened during the making of the music video. From this preliminary task, we had learnt a lot about camera shots and where to position certain shots. As well as this, we learnt how crucial lip synching is within a music video and if it is out of time, it looks rubbish.
